Cannabis Photography of Darryl Glubczynski

Darryl Glubczynski is a professional photographer and award-winning photojournalist whose assignments have taken him throughout the world. A U.S. Navy photographer for eight years and a Gulf War veteran, Glubczynski's attractive photos have been featured in a number of major military magazines and newspapers. Fortunate for us, Glubczynski is also obsessed with capturing gorgeous photos of ganja.

This example of Glubczynski's passion for pot follows on a long and fruitful career as a pro photog who has documented topics of importance for the U.S. military, corporate America, and even academia. With more technical and stylistic experience than most photographers, he is able to capture cannabis plants during growth in a way that eludes most of his colleagues.

Glubczynski's photography has also been on display in the Pentagon and is listed in the Naval Archives in Washington, D.C. His freelance photography work has included assignments for local and national industries in several states.

In 2005, Glubczynski retired as photographer for marketing and communications at Clemson University, a position in which he provided engineering, scientific, agricultural, and sports photographic services. Since 2010, he has been involved with lobbying, activism, and legalization support for cannabis in Washington D.C. and throughout the American Southeast.

From rock stars to Republicans, Glubczynski has covered it all. Full disclosure: Glubczynski is a moderator in the Higher Learning LV Facebook group Cannabis Training with Higher Learning LV, helping both educate and entertain its nearly four thousand members.

Regarding the stunning image below, Glubczynski remarked: "That photo is famous. That is an official Navy postcard and poster and even promoted the film Top Gun. It is my most famous photo. 1/4000 second. That's an F-14 breaking the sound barrier off the coast of Venezuela in 1987. I won some award, but I don't remember the name."

This shot reminds of us autumn and harvest time, with its brilliantly muted oranges and reds dancing into the blue-green leaves near the center of the cola of this cannabis plant. Photographer Darryl Glubczynski's love of the herb is obvious as his camera waits patiently to capture its subjects at just the right moment, when the light best teases and delights the eye.

We love how this layered shot from photographer Darryl Glubczynski gently fades from green to maroon, lifted by the delicate pistils of this cannabis plant that is beginning to show its adulthood. Textured photos like this aptly demonstrate his patient approach to capturing a botanical species that is reported to yield relaxation and calming for some of its consumers.

Shots like this one from Glubczynski invite us to worship at the feet of Cannabis sativa L and her bountiful trichomes, rich in terpenes and cannabinoids. His skills in photography are, fortunate for us, matched by his talent for cannabis cultivation. This photo is what Gen Xers mean when they describe loose-leaf cannabis flowers as "dank."

Photos like this are not just awe inspiring works of stunning photography, they're technically challenging. Glubczynski pulled this one off not with a microscope (everyone's natural guess), but a conventional SLR camera with a 10" bellows between the camera body and the lens.

Glubczynski is an obvious fan of both color and cannabis trichomes. His camera displays a special affinity for both, peppering his photographic canvas with brilliant oranges and greens and purples—just the way mother nature intended.

If color is one of the specialities of Glubczynski, shots like this are perhaps his White Album. As both a talented photographer and keen marijuana cultivator, he knows that the successful capture of such stages in the growth of a plant is all about health and timing. Fortunate for us, Glubczynski is really good at both.

Shots like this demonstrate photographer Darryl Glubczynski's ability to successfully translate the often-simple colors of cannabis at all stages of the herb's growth. In this case, he also captures the tone of the word "ripe" as the trichomes seem to leap from the screen, begging viewers to fantasize about their harvest, drying, trimming, and eventual destination in bongs and dab rigs across America.

Glubczynski's military background shines through in his top-down approach to cannabis photography. The gentle textures and angles of the plant's sugar leaves and outer fan leaves play in the light to create enticing photos that show a respect for the herb that helps erase a century of stigma resulting from prohibition.
